Digital Product Funnel Examples: What a Full Funnel Actually Looks Like

Hey, let’s talk about the thing nobody shows you a real example of: an actual, full, working digital product funnel. Not the diagram or the theory. The actual pages, the actual order, the actual mechanics of how a stranger becomes a buyer.

I’ve spent close to a decade building funnels for international brands at the agency level, and I’m currently running my own, solo, from a crayon-covered kitchen table in Romania. So I’m going to walk you through exactly what a complete funnel looks like, stage by stage, with real examples at each step.

If you’ve ever built a sales page and wondered why nothing happened after you hit publish, this is probably why. A sales page is not a funnel. A funnel is a system, and most solo sellers only ever build one piece of it.

What a Sales Funnel Actually Is

A sales funnel is the structured path someone follows from the moment they first hear about you to the moment they hand over their card details, and ideally, what happens after that too. The Funnelish 2026 sales funnel guide breaks down what a well-defined funnel actually does.

What a real funnel does
  • 1. Filters — disqualifies people who aren’t a fit so you stop wasting ad spend on the wrong audience
  • 2. Educates — moves prospects from problem-aware to solution-aware to product-aware in stages
  • 3. Monetizes — uses pricing and packaging to extract more value per transaction, not just the first sale
  • 4. Retains — keeps the relationship going after checkout instead of ending at the receipt

That third job, monetizing, is the one most people skip. They build a pretty landing page, link it to a checkout, and call it done. Then they wonder why their average order value is stuck at whatever their main product costs and not a cent more.

Stage One: The Opt-In Page

This is where the stranger becomes a lead. The SendOwl guide on building funnels for digital product sellers lays out the rules clearly.

Opt-in page rules
  • 1. Keep the form short — name and email only, every extra field can cost you 10 to 15 percent in conversion
  • 2. Place it in three spots — a dedicated landing page, embedded inside blog content, and a delayed pop-up
  • 3. Delay the pop-up — trigger after 30 seconds or 50 percent scroll depth, never on page load
  • 4. Make the trade clear — one specific thing offered, one clear thing asked for in return

Real example: my AI Ascension Score quiz. Someone lands on the page, takes a short interactive quiz, and gets an email gate before they see their results. That’s the opt-in. No fluff before it, no extra questions, just a clear exchange: give me your email, get your score.

Stage Two: The Nurture Sequence

Once someone opts in, you have a short window where their attention is highest. SendOwl recommends a five-email sequence over 10 to 14 days for most digital products.

Real example: my Digital Product Blueprint nurture sequence runs five emails across day 0, 1, 3, 7, and 14. Day 0 is delivery and introduction only. The pitch doesn’t show up until later, once there’s been enough value given that the ask doesn’t feel like a cold open.

Stage Three: The Tripwire Offer

This is the low-cost, high-value product that gets someone to make their first purchase decision with you. The Swipe Pages breakdown of digital product funnels explains the psychology behind it: getting someone to make an initial small purchase paves the way for larger ones down the road.

Real example: my Digital Product Blueprint at $27. It’s priced low enough to be an easy yes for someone who’s never bought from me before, but it’s a real, complete product, not a stripped-down teaser.

Stage Four: The Checkout Page and Order Bump

Here’s where most solo sellers leave the most money on the table without realizing it. SamCart’s analysis of over $7 billion in processed transactions found that order bumps convert at 30 to 40 percent on average.

Order bump pricing rules
  • 1. Match the price down — keep the bump the same price or slightly less than your main offer
  • 2. Make it clearly separate — it should not feel like something already included in the main product
  • 3. Watch the take rate — over 70 percent acceptance usually means you can raise the price
  • 4. One bump per checkout — stacking more than one usually hurts your main offer’s conversion

Real example: every checkout on my site currently includes The Human Layer as a universal order bump. One offer, attached to every product, no friction, no extra setup per product.

Stage Five: The Post-Purchase Upsell

This is different from the order bump. It happens after the purchase is complete, on a separate page, and it can be priced higher because the buyer is in their highest-trust, highest-intent state of the entire funnel. The Focus Digital 2025 upsell report found merchants typically see a 20 percent increase in average order value from upsells alone.

Real example: my thank-you page presents Mom’s AI Revenue System as the primary upsell after a DPB purchase, with Run the Ad: Meta Ads Masterclass as a secondary offer underneath it.

Stage Six: The Thank You Page

This page does more work than people give it credit for. It’s not just a receipt. It’s the first thing a brand new customer sees after handing you money, and it sets the tone for the entire relationship going forward.

Real example: for my high-ticket offers like Done-With-You Sprint and Digital Business Audit, I’m building a shared thank-you page that confirms they’re locked in and tells them exactly what happens next, since these are application-based offers where I personally follow up. For self-serve products, the thank-you page handles access delivery and a single, clear next step instead.

Stage Seven: The Email Confirmation and Delivery

Whatever happens on the thank-you page, the email backs it up. The centripe breakdown of digital sales funnel stages flags this as one of the most overlooked points of friction.

Real example: every self-serve purchase on my site triggers a Brevo automation that adds the buyer to a dedicated list and sends a single confirmation email. No oversized sequence, no unnecessary steps. Confirm, deliver, done.

Why Most Solo Sellers Only Build Half a Funnel

If you fix one stage and not the others, you’ll feel like nothing is working even when something is. SendOwl points out something useful here: if opt-ins are strong but tripwire sales are weak, the problem usually isn’t the tripwire, it’s that the nurture sequence didn’t build enough trust.

The full funnel, stage by stage
  • 1. Opt-in page — name and email, one clear trade
  • 2. Nurture sequence — 5 emails over 10 to 14 days
  • 3. Tripwire offer — low cost, high value, easy first yes
  • 4. Checkout with order bump — 30 to 40 percent take rate when done right
  • 5. Post-purchase upsell — higher price, highest trust moment
  • 6. Thank you page — sets the tone for the whole relationship
  • 7. Confirmation email — confirm, deliver, done

Work from the top down. Get the opt-in and nurture sequence solid before you obsess over your upsell copy. The upsell can’t convert if nobody made it that far.

A Quick Word on Tools

You don’t need a dozen platforms stitched together to run this. WooCommerce, Brevo, and a checkout plugin that supports order bumps will cover the entire funnel I just walked through. If you’re earlier in your build and want something more contained to get a full funnel live fast, systeme.io handles opt-in pages, email automation, and checkout with order bumps inside a single platform, which is worth considering if you’re stitching together five different tools right now and losing your mind over it.

A funnel isn’t a single page. It’s a sequence of decisions stacked on top of each other, and every stage either earns trust for the next one or quietly leaks the customer you already paid to acquire.
