I got laid off in February 2026 and did what any completely rational person would do: decided to build an entire online business from scratch, from Romania, with two kids, three dogs, and approximately zero desire to pay $300 a month in software subscriptions before I’d made a single sale.
Cool plan, Jade.
Here’s the thing though — it worked. And a big reason it worked is because I stopped trying to cobble together five different tools and just put everything into Systeme.io.
This is my honest, slightly unhinged review of Systeme.io for anyone building a digital product business. I’m going to tell you exactly what it does, what it doesn’t do, what the pricing actually looks like, and who it’s right for. Let’s go.
What is Systeme.io?
Systeme.io is an all-in-one online business platform that handles your sales funnels, email marketing, course hosting, website, blog, affiliate program management, and automation — all from one dashboard. It has a genuinely free plan and paid plans starting at $17/month.
What Does Systeme.io Actually Do?
Before we get into the review, let me lay out what this platform actually covers — because the feature list is genuinely ridiculous for the price.
Sales funnels. Email marketing. Course and membership hosting. Website builder. Blog. Automation and workflows. Affiliate program management. Evergreen webinars (on higher plans). Booking calendar. A/B testing. Order bumps and upsells. Payment processing. Community builder. SMS marketing.
That’s not a feature list. That’s an entire tech stack.
When I started building my digital product business, I was looking at: ClickFunnels for funnels at $147/month, ConvertKit for email at $29/month, Teachable for courses at $59/month, a separate affiliate management tool at $89/month. That’s $324 a month minimum. Before making a cent.
Systeme.io does all of that. On the free plan. For zero dollars.
I know how that sounds. Keep reading.
Systeme.io Pricing: What You Actually Get
| Plan | Price | Contacts | Funnels | Courses | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/mo | 2,000 | 3 | 1 | Validating your first offer |
| Startup | $17/mo | 5,000 | Unlimited | 5 | Growing your list, multiple products |
| Webinar | $47/mo | 10,000 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Adding webinars to your launches |
| Unlimited | $97/mo | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Scaling, agencies, sub-accounts |
A few things worth flagging here.
The free plan isn’t a stripped-down teaser. It’s a real, functional business setup — 2,000 contacts, unlimited email sends, 3 sales funnels, 1 course, 1 blog, 1 custom domain, 0% transaction fees. You can launch a digital product and make actual money on the free plan.
They also lowered the Startup plan price in 2025. Down from $27/month to $17/month. While every other platform is not shy about raising prices, these people went the other direction. Make it make sense. (It makes sense. I love it.)
Annual billing gets you two months free across all plans — so if you know you’re committed, pay yearly.
The Features: A Real Breakdown
Sales Funnels
This is what Systeme.io was originally built around and it’s still one of the strongest parts of the platform. You get a drag-and-drop funnel builder, opt-in pages, sales pages, order forms, upsell and order bump pages, and thank-you pages — all connected in a visual flow you can actually understand without a computer science degree.
The templates aren’t going to win any design awards but they’re clean, they convert, and you can customize them enough to make them feel like yours. On the free plan you get 3 funnels. Startup and above gives you unlimited. I started on free with one funnel for my first product and it was completely fine.
Email Marketing
Unlimited emails on every plan. Let me say that again: unlimited email sends, even on free. You can have up to 2,000 contacts on the free plan and send as many emails as you want to them.
The email builder is a simple drag-and-drop setup. You’ve got campaigns for one-time sends, newsletters, and automations triggered by behavior. The automation rules are solid — tag subscribers, move them between lists, trigger sequences based on purchases, set delays. It’s not as technically deep as ActiveCampaign, but for a digital product business at the beginner-to-intermediate stage it handles everything you need.
Course and Membership Hosting
You can build and deliver online courses, memberships, and digital downloads inside Systeme.io without needing a separate platform. Your students get login access, you can drip content, track progress, and manage everything from the same dashboard.
Systeme.io doesn’t charge per student — unlimited students on every plan. This is one of the dumbest things competing platforms do (Teachable, I’m looking at you) and Systeme.io just doesn’t do it.
Affiliate Program Management
You can set up your own affiliate program for your products inside Systeme.io — create affiliate links, set commission percentages, track sales, manage payouts. On the free plan you get 1 affiliate program. Startup and above gives you unlimited. If you want to recruit affiliates to sell your digital products for you, you don’t need a separate tool for that. It’s already in here.
Automation and Workflows
This is where it gets impressive. You can build visual automations that connect your funnels, email, tags, courses, and more. Someone buys your product → enroll them in course → add tag “buyer” → start email sequence → remove from prospect list. All automated. All in one place. The workflow builder is visual and intuitive enough that you won’t need to watch seventeen YouTube tutorials to figure it out.
What Systeme.io Doesn’t Do Well
I said honest review. Here’s the honest part.
The design ceiling is real. The page builder templates are functional but not beautiful out of the box. If you care a lot about your brand aesthetic and want a truly custom-looking sales page, you’ll need to put work in. It’s doable — but it requires effort.
The analytics are basic. You get conversion rates, subscriber counts, email open rates. You don’t get deep behavioral data, heatmaps, or granular reporting. For most beginners this is completely fine. For someone with a growth marketing brain who is obsessive about data (hello, it’s me), you’ll feel the ceiling eventually.
Advanced email automation is limited compared to ActiveCampaign or ConvertKit. You can’t do complex conditional branching or lead scoring inside Systeme.io. For most digital product sellers this doesn’t matter at all. For someone building a sophisticated multi-product funnel ecosystem down the line, you might outgrow it.
There’s no mobile app. You manage everything from a browser. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.
Who Is Systeme.io Actually For?
Systeme.io is the right tool if you’re building a digital product business from scratch or in the early-to-mid stage of growth, you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars a month on tools before you’re making money, and you want everything in one dashboard instead of five browser tabs and a Zapier connection that breaks at midnight before a launch.
It’s probably not the right tool if you’re running a large-scale agency, you need deeply sophisticated email automation, or design is so central to your brand that you need maximum creative control over every pixel.
For the vast majority of moms building online income in the digital product, coaching, and course space — Systeme.io is more than enough. I’d argue it’s the smartest starting point available right now.
The math that made me switch
ClickFunnels ($147) + ConvertKit ($29) + Teachable ($59) + affiliate tool ($89) = $324/month before you’ve made a single sale. Systeme.io free plan = $0. Startup plan = $17/month. Unlimited = $97/month. The decision isn’t complicated.
My Actual Experience Using It
When I started building my digital product business after my layoff, I was doing it from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. No local entrepreneur friends to ask for tool recommendations. No co-working space. Just me, my husband, our two boys, three dogs absolutely losing their minds any time someone rang the doorbell, and a laptop.
The last thing I needed was a platform that required a week of setup tutorials before I could launch anything. Systeme.io is genuinely beginner-friendly in a way that doesn’t insult your intelligence. The onboarding is clear, the interface makes logical sense, and when I had a question the help documentation actually answered it.
I started on the free plan to validate my first offer. Once I was making consistent sales and my email list grew past 2,000 contacts, I upgraded. The fact that I could run a real business generating real revenue before spending a cent on the platform is something I genuinely can’t say about most tools in this space.
Systeme.io vs the Competition
Since you’re going to Google this anyway, let me save you the time.
Systeme.io vs Kajabi: Kajabi starts at $149/month and is more polished, more powerful, and more expensive. It’s the right tool for established creators who need premium design and deep analytics. It’s not the right starting point if you’re building from zero. Start with Systeme.io, graduate to Kajabi when the revenue justifies it.
Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels: ClickFunnels starts at $147/month and does funnels really well — but that’s largely all it does. Systeme.io does funnels plus email plus courses plus everything else for a fraction of the price. Unless you specifically need ClickFunnels’ community features, there’s no reason to start there.
Systeme.io vs Teachable: Teachable starts at $39/month and is specifically for courses. It doesn’t do funnels or email marketing so you’d still need other tools on top of it. Systeme.io includes course hosting plus everything else. Not a fair fight at this price point.
Systeme.io vs WordPress + WooCommerce: This one genuinely depends. If you’re already on WordPress with an established site, keeping it and adding Systeme.io for funnels and email makes sense. If you’re starting from scratch and don’t need full WordPress customization, building natively on Systeme.io is simpler and cheaper.
The Verdict
I’m not going to pretend I’m neutral here. I use Systeme.io, I recommend it, and yes — there are affiliate links all over this post. But I recommend it because it’s genuinely the platform I’d tell any mom to start with if she’s building a digital product business from scratch today.
It’s not perfect. The design ceiling is real and the analytics are basic. But for a mom trying to build a location-independent income without drowning in software subscriptions or spending three months in tutorial hell before she launches anything — it’s the best starting point available right now.
Free plan. No credit card. You could literally have your first funnel up this week.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Systeme.io really free?
Yes — no credit card required, no time limit. The free plan gives you 2,000 contacts, unlimited email sends, 3 sales funnels, 1 course with unlimited students, 1 blog, 1 affiliate program, and 1 custom domain. You can build a real digital product business and make real money before spending a cent.
Can I sell digital products on the free plan?
Yes. You can connect Stripe and PayPal, set up a sales funnel, and start selling digital products on the free plan with 0% transaction fees from Systeme.io. You’ll still pay standard Stripe/PayPal processing fees (around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) but that’s not a Systeme.io charge.
Is Systeme.io good for beginners?
It’s one of the best platforms for beginners specifically because everything is in one place. You’re not trying to integrate five different tools or figure out why your Zapier connection broke at midnight before a launch. One dashboard, one login, one support team.
When should I upgrade from the free plan?
Upgrade to Startup ($17/month) when you hit 2,000 contacts or need more than 3 sales funnels. Bump to Webinar ($47/month) when you want automated webinars in your launch strategy. Upgrade to Unlimited ($97/month) when you’re scaling past 10,000 contacts or managing multiple sub-accounts.
Does Systeme.io have a mobile app?
No. You manage everything through a browser. It’s mobile-responsive but there’s no dedicated app.
Can I migrate from another platform to Systeme.io?
Yes. Systeme.io offers free migration on annual paid plans — their team will move your funnels, courses, and contacts over for you. On monthly plans you can migrate manually or hire someone to do it.
Is Systeme.io better than Kajabi?
Depends where you are in your business. Kajabi is more polished and more powerful — and starts at $149/month. Systeme.io is more affordable and more beginner-friendly — and starts at $0. For most moms building a digital product business in the early stages, Systeme.io is the smarter starting point. Upgrade to Kajabi when the revenue justifies it.
